It will take more than rain to stop us!!

Hi everyone,

Well despite some terrible weather we got our first win under our belt! Thanks to everyone for adapting and being patient with the terrible weather. Hopefully this rain will end soon. I thought that we swam well under the circumstances. We had 14 swimmers qualify for Tri-County and a new team record set by Alex Martin in the 11-12 50 Backstroke! Pretty good start.

Things are going to get really busy now. We switch to all morning practices this week and we have our first "B" meet. Please parents, don't forget to sign your swimmers up for the "B" meet. The sign-up sheet is posted on the swim team board. Also, we have our first stroke and turn night this tuesday from 5-6. I plan on using this time to really focus on improving our turns and hopefully getting in some start work if the weather will cooperate.

Important events this week

Hi Everyone,

First off I want to congratulate our swimmers and thank our parents for a very successful practice meet. We had some outstanding swims and I think it will really help us be prepared for our first real meet.

There are a couple important events to remember this week. We will continue with the afternoon practices until we switch to AM practice on Friday. The times for the AM practices are all posted on the site. Also, don't forget picture day and our first team pep rally are on Friday. The pep rally is at 12:00 after the last practice. We will be working on some cheers and getting everyone excited for our first meet of the season.

Also, I will be posting the "B" meet sign up sheet on the board this Thursday. Please don't forget that if you want your child to swim in a "B" meet this summer they MUST be on the sign up sheet. The sheet will be available until Tuesday (June 23) after practice. If you have any questions about this new procedure please let me know.

Practice Meet

Hi Parents,

I will have the meet sheet for the practice meet with me at practice tomorrow and Friday. I just wanted to make sure everyone understands that this is NOT an "A" meet lineup. There are some swimmers who are not swimming two individual events who normally would be in an A meet.

The main purpose of this meet is to get as many times from as many swimmers as possible. This will allow us to put together the best lineup for our A Meets. Some swimmers already have times from last week so we needed to have other swimmers get some times.

I did try to put as many swimmers as I could in the meet (either individual or in a relay) just to give as many people as possible a chance to experience a "practice" meet.

For new parents, the B meets and A meets run fairly similar so it will be good experience for all swimmers.

Time Trials

It looks like tomorrow will be another nasty day so I am sure that many people will not be at practice. Time Trials is this Saturday. We will begin warm up at 8:15 with the meet scheduled to start at 9:00.

I have asked all team members to attend the meet (if they are available), even those older swimmers who are not actually swimming.

So I if I don't see you Friday I will see you Saturday for our first glimpse of the sun in a couple days!

Practice and the Weather

Hi Parents/Swimmers,

First off, thank you to all the parents who were able to make it to the meeting. I thought we had a great turn out and was glad to meet our new parents and say hello to those I met last year.

Since it seems that we are destined to start our season with some unpleasant weather...I just wanted to let everyone know that we do hold practice in the rain. If there is thunder or lightning we will get the swimmers out for the required 30 min after the last event...but if there is only rain the coaches will be there for practice.

Hopefully all the rain will be over soon!

Parent Meeting

Hi Parents,

I wanted to inform everyone that we will be having a parent meeting next Tuesday June 2 @ 4:30. The meeting will not last too long – maybe about 15 minutes – but will include some extremely important information for ALL parents. There have been some changes to some procedures around meets and other events that it is important that everyone is aware of before the season really gets going. I would ask that everyone try to attend as this is likely the last time we will have an information session like this before the meets start (which is very soon!)

First update of the season!

Hi parents and swimmers,

Well, despite the cold we are off and swimming. The pool is much warmer than last year but still a little chilly. At this point we are telling all the swimmers to stay in as long as they can but that if they need to get out it is ok. Hopefully next week the weather will brighten up and we will get some sun to help keep things warm.

We are looking to have a parent meeting next week to discuss some changes to several things this summer. We will send out an e-mail and I will post more info here when we finalize the time and date. Hopefully everyone is excited as I am for our season to start! We are going to have some great meets this year and are really looking to get our team spirit back after a rough year in A division.
